Indigenous People's Day

In 1992, Berkeley, California became the first city in the U.S. to acknowledge Indigenous Peoples’ Day in place of Columbus Day, and since then in California, the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco have followed suit.

Currently, the states of Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, Vermont, New Mexico, Maine, South Dakota and the District of Columbia have also replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples' Day.
