THE COST OF THE SERVICES WE OFFER

As part of your visit, we will ask you if you have health insurance. We ask that you answer the questions accurately since the reimbursement from your insurance carrier helps us keep services available to everyone.

If you are insured, we will attempt to bill your insurance provider. If your insurance carrier does not pay for your services, we will not bill you for any outstanding balance. You will receive your care at no cost.

If you are concerned that other people in your household may learn about what services you are receiving from us if we bill your insurance company, please speak to a staff member. We can work with you to address this.

If you are uninsured, we will provide HIV testing and STI testing and treatment services at no cost. We may also be able to assist with the cost of PrEP/PEP. Please speak to an MHF staff member for more information. We will also link you to our Benefits Department to assist you with obtaining health insurance.

Referrals to other MHF clinics

Depending on your specific needs, we may, refer you to our clinic at 9201 Sunset Blvd. Services there are not guaranteed to be available at no- or low- cost to our patients.

If you are uninsured, we may be able to offer services free of charge depending on your specific situation. If we cannot offer you care for no charge, we will help you find a provider where your financial situation is not a barrier to your accessing care.

If you are insured, you may be charged a co-pay or other cost sharing if your insurance carrier requires us to do so.

We accept most PPO plans, MediCal, and LA Care MediCal Managed Care. If you have questions about your insurance coverage, please ask to speak with a Patient Access Specialist. If you are concerned about your ability to pay, please ask to speak with a member of our benefits team who can help you find programs that can help you pay for care.

The information we collect

We work with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to be able to offer our services at no/low-cost. As part of our agreement with the County, we share information including your demographic information and your reported risk factors. This is the same information you would be asked to provide at other community testing sites, such as the LGBT Center, APLA, or AHF.

We take your privacy seriously, and we have careful protocols set up to ensure your data is secure. If you are not comfortable sharing this information, we will help you schedule an appointment at our clinic at 9201 Sunset Blvd. Our services there are not funded by the County so you may be charged for your care.
